Spherical plain bearings handle heavy radial loads and bidirectional axial loads at same time. Standard designs utilize carbon chromium steel-on-steel sliding surface, which is hardened, phosphated and treated with Molybdenum Disulfide (MoS2). Others have PTFE-lined steel outer sliding surfaces on chrome-plated balls. Units with ES suffix can be relubricated through annular grooves and oil holes in inner and/or outer rings.
