Two basic procedures to install flange mount bearing
Designs like bearings are the alternative applications to carry a given load at a desired speed. Flange mount bearing avails you the support for a shaft that runs perpendicular to the bearing’s mounting surface. It is one of the most economical ways to handle a given level of speed and load capacity. Installing the flange mount bearing can be tricky because of the thin aluminum outer shell.
There are two basic procedures that can be followed to install the flange mount bearing. Each method come with a challenge and one must be considered and be careful at the same time. Find the right process that suits best with your conditions and capabilities and you will finally get the best result of it.
Machine the housing for a slip fit, apply adhesive and slip the bearing into the housing. Make sure to allow ample amount of time for the adhesive to cure as specified by the adhesive manufacturer. Caution: Do not allow any of the adhesive to touch the bearing liner, otherwise it will harden and interfere with the proper running clearance for the bearing.
